The share of extra-grade milk in Ukraine has grown to 20%

According to the results of three quarters of 2018, dairy processing enterprises of Ukraine received 3.3 million tons of basic fat milk, which is 3.7% less than the corresponding period of last year. It is 41.3% of the total milk production.

This is reported by the analytical department of the AVM with reference to the SSSU.
Of the total milk procured by processing enterprises, 2.06 million tons of milk came from agricultural enterprises (+ 1%), income from households amounted to 906 thousand tons (-9.8%).

The share of milk of extra grade in the structure increased from 15.5% to 21% (426.4 thousand tons), the highest grade - from 35.8 to 38.2% (792.4 thousand tons), the first grade was 33.9% were purchased, compared to 39.4% last year (704.4 thousand tons).

Receipt of first grade milk from households increased from 9% to 12.8% (115.6 thousand tons), while the second dropped from 87.2% to 83.2% (754.3 thousand tons).

“For 8 months, agricultural enterprises lost an increase of two to three percent, observed at the beginning of the year, and now the figures are at the 2017 level. This situation seems to continue until the end of the year, ”the project analysts comment.

So, since the beginning of October, the milk of agricultural enterprises has risen in price by about 3%, the range of cost of high-quality raw materials in the middle of October is 9.00-9.95 UAH / kg with VAT (basic indicators of fat and protein).

The highest price for farm milk is now at around 10 UAH / kg, while last year it was 10.40 UAH / kg in the same period.

Most of the price added cheese is soft, sour cream and butter.

Since the beginning of the year, 90% of social food products have risen in Ukraine. Dairy products increased in price by an average of 19%.

This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian Association of Suppliers of Retail Networks Alexey Doroshenko.

Soft cheese went up by 22%, sour cream - by 20%, milk and butter - by 17%. For ten months of this year, the butter has added in the price of 23 UAH, soft cheese - 18 UAH, sour cream - 8 UAH, milk - 2.5 UAH. Now a kilogram of butter can be bought on average for 158 UAH, soft cheese - for 100 UAH, sour cream - for 47 UAH, milk - for 18 UAH.

Peasants reduce milk production

The decline has traditionally been due to a reduction in production in households, where volumes have decreased by almost 3% compared with last year, Infagro reports 

For 8 months, agricultural enterprises lost an increase of two to three percent, which was observed at the beginning of the year, and now the figures are at the 2017 level. This situation seems to continue until the end of the year.

The number of cows in the country continues to decline. As of October 1, in Ukraine there were officially 2,020,000. Cows, which is 3.7% less than at the same time last year. Interesting dynamics within the categories: if a year ago the reduction was about the same for all groups of producers (and the reduction on farms was even more significant), then this year the number of cows in agricultural enterprises decreased by 1.0%, while in households it is -4.5% from last year.

Milk produced in households for the second month in a row is rated lower than in the same period last year. In the first half of October, its average cost in Ukraine is at the level of 4.80-5.00 UAH / kg without VAT.

However, by the end of the year, the volume of deliveries will more or less be balanced - due to falling demand.

In any case, the export of Ukrainian oil to the European Union has already exceeded the annual quota. By the way, in 2018 it is 2010 tons, and for 2019 it is set at 2400 tons.

The VAT rate on dairy products in Ukraine is the highest among European countries and is 20%, while in Germany it is 7%, in France it is 5.5%, and in Poland in general it is 5%.

 

Ukrainians significantly overpay for vital products, so they are forced to reduce the amount of dairy products in the diet.

The State Statistics Service reports that in 2017 it was the year of a record low level of consumption of dairy products per capita - 188.5 kg per person at a rate of 380 kg and the figures in 2018 continue to fall.

Ukraine has sharply reduced exports of dairy products

In September, Ukraine reduced the export of dairy products by 40% compared to the same period last year - to $ 18.3 million, which is the lowest figure ever.

 

This was reported by the press service of the Association of Milk Producers.

"A significant decline in the price of butter and powdered milk on the world market affected Ukraine in September to have the lowest export earnings from the sale of dairy products in 2018 - $ 8.3 million (minus 21.8% compared to August of this year and minus 40% compared with September last year), "- said in a statement.

It is noted that the largest reduction occurred for dry milk - by 48.5% and butter - by 50.2% - for those export categories that brought the main revenue of the last year. For the nine months of 2018, exports of milk and cream amounted to 15.5 thousand tons, which is 86.6% more compared to the same period last year, in monetary terms, exports amounted to $ 11 million, which is 90.3% more than in January-September last year.
